Along with Cave Canem fellows Hayes Davis and Hallie Hobson, Everett Hoagland, the author of six collections of poetry, will read original verse in this famed plein air venue, called "an oasis of peace and calm nestled in [a] canyon of skyscrapers." The program is free to the public and is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York State Council on the Arts, as well as grants from The Greenwall Foundation and The New York Community Trust, Lila Wallace Theater Fund. Additional support has been provided by New York University Creative Writing Program.

Author of 23 critically acclaimed books, Walter Mosley will debut his newest novel, The Right Mistake (Basic Books), at a reading to benefit the nation’s premier home for black poetry, Cave Canem.

Suji Kwock Kim

Join Major Jackson and Suji Kwock Kim for an evening of conversation and poetry. After a brief reading, the two prize-winning poets will engage in a lively dialogue about the directions of contemporary poetry.

This program inaugurates Poets on Craft, a series focusing on the perspectives of poets whose work responds, however indirectly, to the experience of living and working as a minority artist in a Eurocentric culture.
