Enjoy an evening of groundbreaking poetry with Ronaldo V. Wilson, recipient of the 2007 Cave Canem Poetry Prize for Narrative of the Life of the Brown Boy and the White Man, called "palpable consciousness: a stunning achievement" by Claudia Rankine, who selected the manuscript for publication by the University of Pittsburgh Press in 2008. Ms. Rankine and competition finalists R. Erica Doyle and Nicole Terez Dutton give introductory readings, and a book signing and reception follow. Free to the public.

Patricia Smith presents poems from her latest book, Blood Dazzler, a finalist for the 2008 National Book Award. She is the author of four books of poetry, including Teahouse of the Almighty, a National Poetry Series winner. She is joined by Cave Canem fellows Terri Cross, Hayes Davis, Jacqueline Johnson, Bettina Judd, Jadi Keambiroiro, Jacqueline Jones LaMon and other accomplished poets from the Baltimore area and beyond. Cave Canem fellow Reginald Harris hosts. Free to the public.
